How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! – Psalm 133:1 [NIV]
I don’t know where you’re from, but this past week in the UK there was a General Election to decide which political party would run our government. From the results of that election, as expected there has been a lot of hate being thrown around because of the personal decision that people made when choosing who to vote for.
Seeing things on social media saying that people are going to block or unfriend someone because they voted for a particular party really got me thinking… is this really what this world has come to? Are we really going to let a difference in opinion come between us?
Regardless of who you voted for or who you would’ve voted for if you had the opportunity to do so, it’s your personal decision, and however you came to that decision is up to you and nothing you should be judged for. And definitely not something you should be bullied for either.
So why am I telling that story…
During this festive season, I believe that we should become united. I believe that right now, we should be making our broken world a little bit better by spreading the love of Jesus. It should be a time to put our differences aside, not to dwell on them but to rejoice in them. This is the time to make a difference and to take that difference into the new year.
Jesus Christ was brought into the world to save every single person. Whether that means black or white, rich or poor, tall or short, female or male, He came for us all. Our differences make us His children. He didn’t create us to be exactly the same, He created us to be unique. And I for one believe that our uniqueness and individuality should be celebrated!
This Christmas, let’s stand together. Let’s remind each other that no persons opinion is more valid, no person is greater, more loved, more worthy or more anything! To Jesus we are all just as irreplaceable as each other. We are loved equally by Him… and that love is completely unconditional. We are loved by Him because of our differences. And we should love each other because of our differences too.
Let’s stand together. Let’s unite because of Jesus. He is the reason for the season. He is the reason that we can be forgiven. He is the reason that each person is beautifully unique and crafted fearfully and wonderfully together. He is the reason.
Share the love of Jesus this Christmas and stand with everyone… become united as His children.
