Trust in the Lord.

Highs and lows. Lord, You’re with me either way it goes

Doing a Bible study is often something I feel on edge about doing, even if it’s with someone who knows what they’re talking about. But I think there’s something good about writing things down and studying verses and passages from the Bible. Giving yourself time to read, understand and ask questions is the best thing you can do.

Today I decided to take a look at a verse that is very close to my heart; Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT). On it’s own, this verse  speaks volume and can be seen as a verse that is relatively self explanatory, yet I believe it’s always good to look into greater detail to help us fully understand what this verse means. So, let’s take a look…

– Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
    do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
    and he will show you which path to take

Lets break it down:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”

 For me this is really simple, its about having your heart devoted to the Lord and trusting that whatever situation you are in at this moment, God has got you. It’s about putting God before all your worries. There have been many times where I thought I know whats best before trusting in the Lord and it’s always ended in me asking God for help and guidance. Let God in.

“Do not depend on your own understanding”

 This is about thinking you know what is best for you over what God has planned, it’s so easy to build a wall against God and have such a big tower that is refusing to let Him in all because of worldly views or because we have struggles that prevent us from feeling like we aren’t able to confide in God, but we are enough and God wants us to realise that He wants to be the one in control because He knows best in all our situations.

“Seek his will in all that you do”

Before making any decisions, invite God into your next steps, to guide you and lead you into where He wants you to be. Seeking God will often be through Prayer as that is such a great way to spend your time seeking God. Also, another way is through worship, if music is your thing. Personally, I feel the most connected to God when i’m worshipping.

“And he will show which path to take.

 Living the life of a christian can be hard, and we can often find that we go down the wrong paths to get to where we think is best for us, but really we’ve blocked out all of the spiritual connections and spiritual guidance that we have been desperately needing to take us to the route that we should be on. Trusting that God will take us down the right path is hard but God never does things without intent whether that is to shape us, help us learn our lesson through wrong decision making, or for better opportunities. It may look like we are failing and where God is taking us maybe completely out of our comfort zone but that’s where we trust and put all our faith in God.

Let God guide you. He isn’t asking you to have it all figured out, He’s asking you trust that He has it figured out for you.

Love to you all,
