The words of a 4 year old.

When walking down the street with my 4 year old sister I was reminded of the most beautiful thing.

She stopped me, I crouched down to be at her eye level and was able to witness her saying her biggest discovery yet. While looking into my eyes she said  “Lydia…everyone was made different!”. The excitement that was rushing through her was contagious. She continued to make comments about how our noses, hair and height were different from each other, then pointed out the different flowers and leaves as we started to walk again. I asked her why she thought we were all different and she simply responded with “Because Jesus wants us to be”.

Psalm 139:14 [NIV]

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

There are currently 7.8 billion people that walk this Earth. And the most amazing thing is that every single one of those people including you and I is unique. Every individual that you walk past during your day, whether they are a stranger to you or a close friend, is on this Earth with a uniquely and beautifully designed purpose, even if they can’t quite see it yet.

Remember this for yourself…

You are unlike anything in this universe. Completely irreplaceable and so very precious. Don’t let yourself or anybody else tell you otherwise. But instead take pride in who you are and who you will one day be. Be kind to yourself and celebrate your uniqueness.

When you look at yourself in the mirror, take what you call flaws and know that Jesus calls them flawless. Walk confidently and boldly just as you are. Because, right now, just as you are, is beautiful.

There is only one you. So be kind to yourself and celebrate your uniqueness.

Remember these things for yourself today. You are unique. You are beautiful. You are so very precious. This is how we were designed and created to be.
