The emotionally healthy woman

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.

Proverbs 29:25 [NLT]

Recently I have been going to a women’s group at my church and we have been actively discussing the book ‘The emotionally Healthy Woman‘ written by Geri Scazzero. The book is divided into 8 sections and speaks about the ways in which we can actively become emotionally healthy within our selves. It promotes healthy boundary setting, not caring what others think, not lying or dying for the wrong things. There is many things within the book that I can already tell will be thoroughly beneficial for me,  who, not only has problems setting healthy boundaries but for also not feeling guilty about saying ‘No’ when I feel as though I need to.

The book has discussed being able to say no and walking away from things that no longer bring you joy or happiness. Whether that is physical things like people, places or materialistic things… Once you know what these things are for you, you then have the power to change your outlook on life and how your life turns out. Some things are not in our control but this is when we need to remember that God is in control and has our lives in His hands even when we feel alone and lost.

This blog is going to be a short one because of the short time I have read this book. But I can say, I have already grown immensely reading through the study guide and being an active reader and speaking to others about how I can nurture myself and my relationship with Christ!

My self love advice for you this month is to do things that positively feed your soul and spirit, while being an active lover of yourself and the beautiful person you have become within the last 6 months. Most importantly, know that God is beaming with joy and love for you.

Don’t be afraid of what people will think about you or your decisions in life. God is the only one who you should aim to please.
