I am going to be honest with all of you reading this. The last few months for me have been hard and I fell pretty distant from God just after moving to university. Recently I have began to acknowledge this gap that I was allowing to grow between me and God, so have been investing my time in trying to reconnect with my faith. One thing that has really helped me through this is starting to do random acts of kindness, especially when feeling called to. Even though acts of kindness on their own will not get us into heaven, it helps us to be a more positive person, whilst helping someone else too! Therefore I have listed below 10 examples of how you can spread kindness throughout your day!
Do something unexpected…
Pay for the order of the person behind you
Something so small and simple, yet so big and life changing…
Pray for a friend!
A small way you can help friends and family…
Offer to help someone with their shopping if they may be self-isolating
Something that needs to be done more often…
Buy food or essential items for a homeless person (you could pray for them also)
A way to show appreciation…
Tip the Taxi Driver!
We would want this, so why not…
If you are ever in a situation where someone is on their own, such as at church, make an effort to go and sit and have a conversation with them
Something we can all do!
Message someone a motivational quote/Bible verse.
Something so appropriate during this season…
Check up on a person who you haven’t spoken to for a while and let them know you miss them
Help a flame to spark…
Buy a Bible for a person who seems interested in your walk with God
I love this one, especially whilst at university…
leave washing powder/pods in a little bag, and inside the bag, have another bag of coins the person can use to pay for the washing machine and tumble dryer.
These are all things we are capable of doing during this season! I encourage you to step out and spread kindness, to friends, family and even to those you call strangers. We would love to know random acts of kindness you have carried out yourself and any ideas you have to show kindness this season! Be sure to let us know so we can continue to encourage kindness and love.
