You will find your calling in the most unexpected and beautiful placesLydia Duke
Hi, I’m Lydia and this is my story…
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a Christian family and found my own faith when I was around 8 (I say around because there was never really a particular moment, I just always believed Him to be my Saviour). I have been to Soul Survivor many times and have always found this an amazing opportunity to grow deeper in my faith and become closer with people who want to do the same. Another way I have grown in faith is by going to Bridge Church, the youth set up is amazing and each Sunday worship sets a new exciting challenge.
I have currently just finished my first year studying sport, coaching and physical education at University but this obviously is going to look a little bit different when I return in September. With my course usually being placement and teaching heavy in the second and third year, this places a lot of uncertainty on how it’s going to work due to current circumstances. However, I am thankful because the unexpected time off has given me availability to think about my future career aspirations and what I will be doing in ten years time.
I am still unsure about what I want to be but this time since March has taught me to trust in Gods process and take every day as a fresh chance to discover my path.
My message to everyone is that always trust the process. It sounds like such a cliche thing to say, but so incredibly important. Don’t waver from your faith or feel upset because you feel like there is no clear path as of yet. A verse that keeps coming back to me is:
Proverbs 3 5-6
Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding: in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight
I understand it can sometimes be hard to put your full trust in someone. For example, I used to hate at school when they would make us fall back into each-others arms in a team building exercise. But this is what God wants, us to place our full trust in Him. You will find your calling, in the most unexpected and beautiful places.
