‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’ – Psalm 147:3 [NIV]

This week I thought I’d tell you a little story about something that happened to me a few days ago.

In my house, it’s very busy in the morning, especially on a school day as there’s so many people to get ready and to get out the door in time. However, on Friday of this week (my day off college), the house seemed a lot quieter as most people had left the house earlier for various reasons. This mean’t that I was left to watch my three youngest siblings and get ready for nursery.

At one point, the youngest two were sat watching TV whilst I was with my three year old sister, helping her to get dressed and completely ready for her day. As always, she picked out multiple outfits and eventually managed to narrow it down to the one outfit she wanted to wear that day. So, I was helping her get dressed when I realised that the trousers that she had picked out had a hole down the leg. I turned to her and said “these have a hole in them, you can’t wear them.” She then looked at me and instantly said without hesitation… “it doesn’t matter Lydia! I can still use them”.

Some of you may be thinking, what on earth was the point in that story… but you see, as she said those words it really hit me and God spoke to me so clearly through it.

We have wounds, we are broken. We are far from perfect. We make mistakes. We have ‘holes’ in us. But God looks straight through it all. He just sees us. He sees us as He created us to be. He looks past our mistakes, past our brokenness, past our imperfections and past our wounds and says, I will use you. I will still use you despite it all, you are a part of my plan and I will use you.

Today I want to remind you that whoever you are, whatever ‘holes’ you have in your life, to Jesus, you are everything. To Him you are such a big part of His kingdom and have the most unique and important role to play. He will use you, even with all your brokenness. He will make you new. He will love you regardless and love you everlastingly.
