A letter from Lydia to you.
Firstly, let me just start by saying, I hope you had the most wonderful Christmas despite current circumstances!
As I myself, and many others have said, 2020 is one for the books indefinitely. There hasn’t been a day where no negativity has been broadcasted. Everyday it seems has been filled with sadness, loss, confusion, anxiety and deep pain. The constant question; ‘when will this all end?!’.
It is no secret that the 2020 was not what we envisioned for ourselves, or anyone for that matter. Let’s get real, it’s been pretty hard for everyone. It’s a season we never wanted or expected to face.
But, was it all bad?
There is beauty even in the darkest of seasons
This is something I have reminded myself constantly this year. I bet, if you really took the time to look back at your 2020, you would find something beautiful.
You could have had the most amusing Zoom calls with your friends or family, you may have attended a covid wedding in person or online! Or maybe you couldn’t attend that wedding but you’ve had the privilege of witnessing the beauty through their photos or videos so much so, that it felt as if you were actually there! You may have had fun creating social media content; simply by yourself or with your siblings or roommates…maybe, with all the extra time that this year has given us you have been able to start a new hobby, learn a skill or refine that business idea you never had the time for before…
Maybe, just maybe, your 2020 was better than you initially see.
I know myself, looking back, this year actually brought me some beautiful moments and taught me some extremely valuable lessons too! We took to Instagram to ask you all what good has come from your 2020 and the responses really showed that if you think about it, light truly shines through darkness.
We may be very ready to move away from 2020, to turn the page and never look back, but I actually want to say, lets not completely toss it aside. On this New Years eve, the final day of 2020, lets take a minute to see the beauty this year, this season, has brought us within the darkness.
Here at ESC we are praying for your next year and whatever it may bring. May it be filled with much love, joy happiness and peace. But for now let us just say, goodbye 2020.
